The Children's Veg Fest
Project summary
Baltimore, Maryland's plant-based family event cultivating an inclusive and fun environment for our children to grow and express their creativity, through plant based food, entertainment, games, and education.
What are this project's goals?
We created Children's Veg Fest so that the children and families within our community could have a safe place to have fun and explore healthy, plant-based food options and lifestyle choices.
It is our belief that, when given the proper tools and support, our children can thrive and excel. The most success comes with meeting people where they are making authentic community connections, and maintaining an understanding of the impact of culture on food, health, and family traditions.
How will you achieve them?
Children learn and heal through play. We have carefully curated a multitude of activities for children of all ages to enjoy such as small business vending, experience, cooking, planting, and story telling workshops, live performances, sing-a-longs, and a bike rodeo.
How will this funding be used?
Funds will be used to secure festival equipment such as sound, staging, tables, tents, permits, event insurance, marketing and advertising, swag bags, t-shirts, and wages for labor.
Minimum funding of $500 will assist with the permit fee and the initial cost to advertise and market the event through digital and social media advertising and posting on Eventbrite.
Our funding goal of $2,500 will help to secure tents, tables, a stage, planting tools and swag bags.
Who is on your team? What's your track record on similar projects?
Our team consists of five organizing members with a specific area of focus in relation to the festival. The lead organizer has a cumulative 10-year track record with large festival organizing (16k+ attendees), vegan restaurant months, and meatless dinner events.
What are the most likely causes and outcomes if this project fails?
The lost opportunity to reach a young, urban demographic that needs this experience and exposure to vegan advocacy.
What other funding are you or your project getting?
At this time, we have not secured funds for 2025 for this project. Our major 2024 funders were Visit Maryland and Stray Dog Institute.
