I am Amartya Kumar, founder of the Oryx Centre for Strategic Futures, based in Noida, India. My co-founder is Riya Nalwa. We started Oryx on 2 October 2026. Oryx produces auditable AI research for the Global South. The problem we work on is simple. AI tools now write research briefs, and many of the citations in those briefs do not check out. We audited 30 briefs with 194 citations. We found 50 verified, 95 broken, 17 with a title mismatch, 1 with no URL, and 31 unverifiable. That means about half the evidence was broken or could not be verified. Our working paper and companion paper are published on Zenodo and free to read, at DOI 10.5281/zenodo.23718472 and DOI 10.5281/zenodo.23731235. We are raising 1,000,000 dollars over six months. We have raised 0 dollars in the last 12 months. This is our first fundraising ask. The money will pay for more citation audits, for publishing our method openly so others can repeat the checks, and for reviewers to check our work.
