Creating a quantitative model of AI progress to figure out when intelligence takeoff will happen and what it will look like. This involves building the model and reasoning carefully about parameter values. It involves investigating the implications of models with high or infinite time horizon in some domains, what progress looks like as we go beyond human-level general intelligence, potential bottlenecks, etc.
