Hi everyone,
I am reaching out to propose an asymmetric, low-cost wager on an unallocated analytical mind. My name is Lucas, I am 24 years old, based in Brazil, and recently qualified for Mensa (IQ 135, 99th percentile).
For six years, I operated in a regime of extreme monotropic focus, dedicating 6 to 8 hours daily to the autodidactic study of classical music theory, polyphony, and counterpoint. Due to severe economic constraints in Brazil, this did not translate into a commercial career. However, it built a high-tolerance capacity for abstract pattern recognition, formal logic, and sustained deep work.
I currently work an administrative baseline job in a funeral home (~$480 USD/month). The job drains my execution battery on low-complexity tasks, while my neurotype (autism) makes corporate social simulation unviable as a career path.
The Proposal:
I am seeking a 12-to-24-month micro-grant ($500–$600 USD/month) to cover baseline survival costs in Brazil, releasing 100% of my cognitive capacity.
While I do not currently have a background in software engineering, my years of mastering complex polyphony prove my ability to map intricate, rule-based abstract systems independently. I want to leverage this grant to execute a rapid, full-time intellectual pivot into computer science and formal systems.
My Roadmap:
- Months 1–4: Full-time intensive upskilling in foundational computer science, data structures, algorithms, and Python (8+ hours/day of deep work).
- Months 5–8: Transition into formal logic, computational frameworks, or AI safety/alignment technical fundamentals.
- Months 9–12+: Producing open-access intellectual output, public synthesis essays, or open-source logic code repositories.
To ensure absolute accountability, I will provide transparent, monthly public progress reports on LessWrong detailing my learning curve, code repositories, and analytical output.
Why this wager:
At $600/month, the downside risk for a sponsor is capped and marginal. The upside is a classic LessWrong asymmetric bet: taking a verified 99th-percentile processor out of a survival loop, funding their rapid transition into technical literacy, and gaining a dedicated, full-time analytical asset for the ecosystem.
