I am building YAUVI, an open computational biology project focused on making advanced scientific workflows easier to run locally and reproduce.
I want to use structural biology and molecular dynamics as practical test cases, then turn what works into open tools and workflows that other independent researchers can reuse.
The goal is to test how much serious computational science can be done on a powerful local research computer instead of depending on cloud compute.
I will use the system for structural biology, molecular dynamics, local AI tools, and continued YAUVI development. I will document what works, what does not, and how to reproduce successful workflows on other systems.
I am requesting $10,000.
$5,500 for the main local research computer
$2,500 for research and development time
$1,000 for storage, setup, and necessary hardware
$500 for limited cloud benchmarking and comparison
$500 for documentation, hosting, and open-source releases
Right now it is just me.
I am an independent researcher building YAUVI and testing structural biology and scientific computing workflows locally. The project is already under open development.

The main risk is that some workloads are still too large or too hardware-intensive to run well on affordable local compute.
If that happens, I will still document the limits, failures, hardware requirements, and cases where cloud or larger systems are still necessary. That information is useful for understanding what local scientific computing can realistically do.
$0 in external funding over the last 12 months.
I have funded the project so far with my own time, existing hardware, and personal resources.
