I am an early-career machine learning researcher from Nepal seeking funding to attend the Human-Aligned AI Summer School (HAAISS/https://humanaligned.ai/2026/) in Prague this July. HAAISS has already provided a registration fee waiver, accommodation, and $600 in travel support. I am seeking approximately $1,200 to cover the remaining travel, visa, and attendance-related costs.
This is time-sensitive. I must submit my Schengen visa application before June 25 and cannot proceed without confirming the remaining funds.
The primary goal is to accelerate my transition into technical AI safety research by participating in HAAISS and engaging with researchers working on alignment and interpretability.
For the past two years, I have been conducting machine learning reliability research remotely from Nepal. HAAISS would be my first opportunity to attend an in-person AI safety event and engage directly with researchers and peers in the field.
This is particularly important as I will be starting graduate studies this fall and am actively exploring a transition from reliability research toward more foundational AI safety questions.

The requested funding will cover the remaining costs required to attend HAAISS:
Remaining international airfare after HAAISS travel support: ~$800
Schengen visa fee: ~$104
Visa processing (VFS Global): ~$48
Local transportation in Prague: ~$60
Meals not covered by the program: ~$150
Total funding sought: approximately $1,160–1,200.
I am the only recipient of these funds.

The most likely reason for failure is insufficient funding before visa deadlines. I would have to decline the acceptance.
I have not received any cash grants in the last 12 months. The HAAISS support is the only confirmed funding to date.
