We are excited to present the start of our long-term arts and research project RAISING MCLUHAN.
We have come together to unlock the archive of Marshall Mcluhan and bring it to life through developing an AI-model that will enable us to engage with his legacy in novel ways. At the same time this project allows us to question what it means to develop responsible AI and develop responsibly. This is the beginning of a 15-year long arts/archival/academic research project where we are digitizing and analyzing the archive of media Theorist Marshall Mcluhan.
to help unlock the archives of Marshall McLuhan and make it available for researchers and (media) students.
explore the impact of and through AI the work of Marshall McLuhan and its relevance for our understanding of AI.
Gain a better understanding through the practice of developing AI contribute with recommendations about how to better anticipate the potential of emerging technologies and whether, when and how to regulate them ensuring its benefits are shared and people are protected against the potential harms.
This will help me to present our project to the public for the first time at the event this week In San Fransisco at Grey Area. Please come and meet me and the team in person.
We are an international 4-persons group of Mcluhan family members, artists, educators, academic researchers and computer scientists. Together we have years of experience developing successful arts and academic research projects.
I have been a multidisciplinary researcher involved in many european and international focussed projects looking at how to improve the lack of open science, open data access and open science hardware. I am currently a postdoc researcher (which is I do not have the budget) on anticipatory governance of emerging technologies and their use in smart cities for critical infrastructure. Previous and ongoing works including enabling underrepresented stakeholders to be part of the discussions and decisionmaking about AI regulations to improve the lack of representative and empowering futures enabled by AI which are dominated by a few who have a very narrow vision of what out futures could and should look like.
It will not fail because it is already successfully provoking discussions worth having about the many legal and ethical challenges AI poses for our present and future societies. If not successful I will have to present via digital means.
This is a call for help to get a little funding to be able to present my part in the project in person.
