Hey Manifund!
I’m hoping to raise a small grant to seed a crowdfunding project I am launching in April.
Long story short: Users purchase a subscription to fund nature and animal welfare projects, half selected by experts, half selected by our members.

How will this funding be used?
The funding will be used to seed the microgrants pool. When we reach our 100-member goal, we will launch our first microgrants round.
Having some seed funding helps in two ways: (1) It allows us to start microgrants sooner (and/or with a larger pool), and (2) It incentivizes early adopters who will get to allocate the first round.
Are there any potential AI-safety co-benefits?
I think so! I want this to be a community-guided project. While our core identity is protecting nature and animals, the impact of AI on society will only become more apparent with time -- and as that happens -- and if Bernie Sanders is any indication -- I could see our members taking an interest.

What are the most likely causes and outcomes if this project fails?
If the project fails it is probably because we couldn’t get enough traction during the first several months after launch due to a failure of marketing.
If you’re on the fence about donating, we can arrange that your money is returned or donated in the case that we don’t make any microgrants. This way, your money is only spent if we actually get traction.
