My work has recently been accepted at the ICML position paper track and has been also been given a spotlight. The paper argues why ML researchers need to think about AI Safety differently when it comes to the internalization of violence learnt from AI companions and its implications of it non-users (intimate partners of users in this case). The paper also highlights a list of recommendations that ML researchers could adopt while working on AI Safety in companionship apps. This includes participatory harm taxonomies, specialized post training infrastructure such as trauma informed red teaming datasets and finally policy and legal guidelines than can support ML researchers to achieve their objectives.
I am currently raising money to bear the travel cost of presenting this spotlight work at ICML in South Korea. Although I am in PhD programme, I have very little travel support from university at this moment since most of it was used in other projects.
Breakup of costs:
Visa: $42.39
Economy class return Airfare from UK to Seoul direct flight: $1465.80
Accommodation: $807.96
Total cost of travel: $2316.15
There are no bids on this project.
