$84,000 left to reach the funding goal.
We've created a protocol that has extracted expert cognition from a subspecialist radiologist and provided an AI scaffolding to improve impression generation. We've already conducted a small study and have shown that practicing neuroradiologists prefer these impressions over conventional impression generators.
The goal of this project is to obtain funding to expand this method into other radiology subspecialties and further evaluate its effectiveness. We also want to get this research in front of companies currently developing AI-assisted radiology reporting software to explore whether this approach could be incorporated into their existing tools.
We have already demonstrated through a small study that radiologists preferred the impressions generated using this method over conventional prompting approaches. We have also received positive informal feedback from colleagues who have reviewed the prototype.
The majority of the funding will be used in developing the methodology for other radiology subspecialty cognition files, as well as funding independent clinical reviewers to ensure accuracy.
I am the primary researcher, E. Brooke Schrickel, MD. I am an academic neuroradiologist and assistant professor of radiology at a major university. I completed my neuroradiology fellowship at Yale and am board-certified in diagnostic radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in neuroradiology.
Tab is the CEO of Resonant Labs, LLC, and oversees business operations and project management.
My previous work includes research involving AI-assisted radiology reporting, clinical evaluation of AI-generated content, and the development of educational resources for radiologists and trainees.
The most likely cause of this project failing would be not getting the research in front of the right people who could help move it into clinical practice. I have already adapted this method into my own clinical workflow, and the time savings have been invaluable.
If this project fails to gain traction, we may miss an opportunity to bring that clinical expertise into the development of AI-assisted reporting tools
We have not raised any external funding in the last 12 months. This has been a self-funded project, and given the positive traction with our research papers currently being considered for publication, we feel that now may be the right time to seek additional funding to expand the research and allow more people to benefit from the resource.
