Project summary

A Web app to do carbon accounting with anti-theft features and our own carbon "tax".

What are this project's goals and how will you achieve them?

Create a network of carbon cryptocurrency tokens without a single point of failure. If the carbon of one token is "stolen", then the rest tokens are protected from being affected by limiting the amounts of inter-token transfers (by absolute values or by recurring time-based values). For example, if some Paris Carbon Accounting NGO commits fraud, the upper level accounting carbon for France can disable transitioning of Paris tokens to France tokens, limit amount of transferred value, and/or devalue the Paris tokens.

The technology also supports "retiring" carbon tokens (wilful refusal by a token owner to produce carbon).

This technology is can be used together with other blockchain-based carbon accounting technologies to increase the stability of the system against theft or human errors.

We aim to create a free market of different carbon accountants, such as recruiting notaries and creating NGOs for carbon accounting, freely competing by setting their carbon tax. It is anticipated that a global carbon accounting organization (with the "main" carbon token) will be established. The tax to this organization will be used for global climate projects like funding climate science.

The token is already developed, it remains to develop the DAO app, what I am doing using Colony SDK and Next.js Web framework.

How will this funding be used?

Up to $15000 to pay Victor Porton's salary to develop this product.

The rest will be used for publicity, such as "recruiting" notaries.

Who is on your team and what's your track record on similar projects?

Victor Porton is a professional blockchain programmer with a track record of several blockchain projects at different blockchains, as well as an experienced Web developer.

What are the most likely causes and outcomes if this project fails? (premortem)

  • if Victor Porton gets a disease

  • if we don't succeed (shouldn't happen) integrating this project with other means of carbon accounting.

What other funding are you or your project getting?

  • GitCoin grants
