$2,050 left to reach the funding goal.
I am seeking USD 2,050 to attend the 32nd Eastern Africa Resource Mobilisation Workshop 2026 in Mombasa, Kenya, from 30 November to 4 December 2026.
As Operations, Communication and Compliance Lead at Samia Widows AiD & Protection Center (SWAPC). SWAPC is a community-based organisation working with widow-led self-help groups in Samia Sub-County, committed to strengthening widows’ dignity, protection, economic empowerment, food security and participation in community development.
SWAPC is developing three interconnected initiatives: A Widows Basket, which seeks to strengthen widows' livelihoods and family wellbeing; The WApp Solution, designed to connect widows with opportunities by digitalizing widow’s activities and The Widows Opportunity Map (TWOM), which seeks to understand who widows are, where they are located and what opportunities can improve their lives.
We are also advancing the Widows Sports Day, a platform for community engagement, public awareness and mobilization of support for widows.
These initiatives need sustainable funding, effective partnerships, strong communication and accountable programme management. The workshop offers an opportunity to develop practical resource mobilization skills, learn from experienced practitioners, engage with prospective funders and strengthen the way SWAPC presents its work.
I am requesting support for registration, return transport and accommodation so that I can participate fully and translate the learning into practical benefits for SWAPC and the widows we serve.
This is an investment in grassroots organizational capacity: helping a community-based organization strengthen its ability to mobilize and manage resources for widows' long-term wellbeing.
Primary project goal is to strengthen SWAPC's resource mobilization capacity so that we can build sustainable partnerships and secure resources for our programmes.
Specifically, I intend to:
Strengthen fundraising strategy: Develop a practical resource mobilization plan that diversifies our funding sources and reduces dependence on any single donor.
Improve project proposals: Refine the funding cases for A Widows Basket, the WApp Solution and TWOM, making them more evidence-based, compelling and aligned with relevant donor priorities.
Build strategic relationships: Engage with fundraising practitioners, potential funders, corporate partners and other organisations working to strengthen community development.
Improve operations and compliance: Apply relevant learning to donor communication, documentation, reporting, accountability and responsible use of resources.
Share knowledge: Transfer useful lessons to SWAPC leadership and colleagues so that the benefits extend beyond one participant.
Mobilize support for Widows Sports Day: Identify potential sponsors, philanthropic supporters and partners who can help connect the event to longer-term investments in widows' wellbeing and livelihoods.
Within 30 days of the workshop, I aim to prepare a 90-day resource mobilization action plan, refine at least two project concept notes or funding pitches, and develop a targeted list of prospective donors and partners.
Within 90 days, I aim to pursue relevant funding opportunities and document proposals submitted, donor engagements and partnership leads.
These are intended deliverables; funding and partnership outcomes will depend on donor decisions and other factors beyond my control.
I am seeking USD 2,050 to cover the essential costs of attending the workshop.
Budget item Amount (USD) Purpose
Workshop registration - 750 - Workshop Fee - Kenya Association of Fundraising Professionals
Return transport - 350 - Travel Expenses Busia - Mombasa including local transfers

The budget is limited to the essential costs of participation. Local transport and any additional accommodation, meals, taxes or incidental expenses not covered by these estimates will need to be confirmed and, if necessary, covered separately.
I will seek cost-effective travel and accommodation arrangements, confirm the final costs before making payments, and use the funds only for the stated purposes.
If any item costs less than budgeted, I will communicate the difference to the relevant funders and follow the applicable funding terms.
