Project summary
My research is on AI in clinical decision support, mainly how we test language models before they give health advice to patients. I studied medicine then moved to AI engineering and currently working in multidisciplinary research as postgraduate student. When I was working in clinic I saw what happen when triage goes wrong so this topic is personal for me.
This is first time I get papers accepted at NeurIPS, two papers in Sydney. First one at GenAI4Health workshop (12 Dec) and second at MuslML workshop (7 Dec). There is no lab or grant funding for this work.

What are this project’s goals? How will you achieve them?
GenAI4Health paper, most tests give the model full patient case and check the answer only. But patients dont talk like this, they forget things or dont know what is important, so model need to ask like doctor do. In one study system had zero errors in single turn tests but 40 to 50% errors in multi turn conversation. I propose 3 measures benchmarks can add for this.
MuslML paper, model that is safe in one clinical area can fail in other one. In emergencies models failed in both ends, one test missed 51.6% of real emergencies. In suicide risk the problem was with middle risk patients. Also when using nurse triage protocol the sensitivity for emergencies went from 0.73 to 0.98.
In Sydney I want to present both posters and get feedback, and find people to work with me on triage dataset written and checked by doctors.
How will this funding be used?
Only for flight. Qatar Airways return ticket Cairo to Sydney 5 to 13 Dec is around $1,500, $1,000 will cover most of it. NeurIPS already paying my registration and hotel (6 to 13 Dec).
What are the most likely causes and outcomes if this project fails?
If project dont reach minimum nobody will be charged. I will not be able to present because presenting is in person only. I will tell NeurIPS to release my spot so other one can use it.
How much money have you raised in the last 12 months, and from where?
NeurIPS pay hotel and registration directly. For flight I applied to BlueDot Rapid Grant and Emergent Ventures and both rejected. I asked my university also but they cant pay for conferences travel now.
