I was born in Taiwan in 1989 and grew up around my family’s street food stall on a temple street in Keelung. I studied digital media design, much closer to art and interaction than computer science.
My life has not followed a very clean path.
I have ADHD, learning disabilities and some other personal problems that made many ordinary things much harder than they looked from outside. Memorizing English words is still unusually difficult for me. That does not mean I cannot understand an idea. Sometimes I understand what I want to say quite clearly and simply cannot get the right word out.
So I use tools.
Dictionaries, translation, search, LLMs, whatever helps me cross the part I cannot cross by myself.
Since LLMs became widely available, this changed much more than my English. Things I had spent years standing outside suddenly became things I could at least try. Websites, APIs, databases, hardware, research, code, strange little experiments, and many things I still do not properly know.
I am still missing a lot of basic knowledge. I still fail constantly. Sometimes I build something and then discover somebody made a much better version years ago.
But I have become much less willing to accept “I cannot do this” as a permanent answer.
I usually keep taking the problem apart. I look for what I misunderstood, what already exists, what tool I am missing, whether there is another route, and whether one smaller piece can actually be done.
I am also a lifelong science fiction fan, so living through the current development of AI feels almost unreal to me. I follow it too much, think too much, start too many things, and sometimes let that excitement make my real life worse.
More recently I have been trying to change that too.
I do not want thinking, making, and dealing with ordinary life to remain three separate worlds.
If I can, I want the things I cannot stop thinking about to become part of how I finally face the things directly in front of me.
Nothing yet.
