I fell into AI safety the way Alice fell into Wonderland with curiosity, depth and no clear way back once I understood what I was looking at and the implications for humanity. It started with a podcast, then hundreds of hours of reading, studying, and asking questions. Originally, I wasn't looking for a new career but like a thread I kept pulling and it began to unravel.  I didn't arrive at AI governance and safety from a technical background. I arrived from twenty years of sitting in rooms where power was being negotiated and noticing who wasn't in them.

I've spent my career building high-trust communities across sectors, ideologies, and cultural divides. I founded The Spectrum Circle, a national leadership platform for professional women, and previously built a seven-figure strategic communications firm before I went inhouse to work for one of my clients. My media work has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, MSNBC, and Al Jazeera. I know how to translate complexity into language that moves people and I know what it costs to those not involved in the conversation.  That instinct is what brought me to AI governance. The communities most affected by AI systems working-class,  rural communities, and people of faith are almost entirely absent from the conversations shaping those systems. I founded Hokmah (www.wearehokmah.org)  to close that gap. I've completed BlueDot Impact's AI Safety Fundamentals cohort, the Centre for Effective Altruism Career Bootcamp (priority tier), and Successif Career program and received career coaching from 80,000 Hours.
