Dr. Ahmed Lawan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). Dr. Lawan received his Ph.D. (cell biology and cardiovascular disease) from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom. He completed his postdoc and research scientist work at Yale School of Medicine and joined the faculty at UAH in 2019. His laboratory elucidates the involvement of MKP/MAPK signaling pathways in the control of glucose and lipid metabolism. This has important implications in human health including the development of obesity, fatty liver disease, diabetes, neurological, and cardiovascular diseases.
