Veterinarians for Animal Welfare Initiative (VAWI) is a nonprofit organization advancing animal welfare and One Health through veterinary leadership, education, and community action.

We recognize that the health and wellbeing of animals, humans, and the environment are deeply interconnected. Guided by the principles of Animal welfare and One Health, VAWI promotes integrated approaches that protect animal health, prevent disease, and strengthen the resilience of communities and ecosystems.

Through our veterinary outreach programs, mass vaccination campaigns—particularly against rabies and other zoonotic diseases—animal rescue and rehabilitation efforts, and animal welfare advocacy, we work to reduce preventable animal suffering while protecting public health. Our initiatives also promote responsible pet ownership, humane livestock management, and wildlife conservation, recognizing their importance in sustaining healthy communities and environments.

VAWI also supports One Health education, research, and collaboration by working with veterinarians, public health professionals, environmental experts, community leaders, and policymakers. Through training programs, community awareness campaigns, and partnerships, we strengthen capacity to address shared health challenges at the human–animal–environment interface.

By combining veterinary expertise, education, advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration, VAWI works to build a future where animal welfare, public health, and environmental sustainability advance together for the benefit of all.
