GiveWise was first conceived of in 2023 when the founders realised many of the most effective charities in the world are not registered legal entities in Hong Kong. As a result, they have no operations or fundraising in Hong Kong, and most Hong Kong people are not aware of them. Hong Kong people were missing out on some of the best opportunities for impact. After nearly two years of work, the team accomplished in 2025 what many told them would be difficult: establishing a recognised legal foundation for effective giving.
